George Harvey, a legendary angler known for his expertise in dry fly fishing and his contributions to the sport, developed a leader system proven to be effective by many anglers who have put it to the test. The leaders are designed to land on the water in “S” curves, providing the fly with the necessary slack to dead drift to its target. It comes in lengths of 10 feet and 11 feet, and is available in tippet size 5X. Segments are connected via blood knots, with a perfection loop at the butt end for easy attachment to your fly line. The butt section is crafted from 15lb (0.015in) Maxima Chameleon. Although Chameleon is red, it’s formulated to change color and become invisible by absorbing light rather than reflecting it beneath the water’s surface. It is harder and stiffer, ensuring a smoother transition from your fly line to your leader. The tippet sections are made from Maxima Ultragreen, which blends naturally into the surrounding water, making it virtually invisible to fish.
